Trustive Wifi Hotspots customers get access to 3,600 BT OpenZone

New survey results have just been released about users preferred method of accessing the internet when on the move in the "Devicescape WiFi Report", by Trustive.

2500 Devicescape members were questioned on behalf of Devicescape, The Cloud and Trustive about their WiFi preferences.

Key finding for the report include:

• 81% prefer using Wifi over 3G for browsing websites, downloading data, Google searches and e-mail
• high percentage do not understand mobile roaming costs
• a large percentage feel that mobile roaming isn't cost effective

The survey also highlights the top three most irritating things about Wi-Fi:

• Complicated login screens
• Confusion over which network to use
• Payment methods

In terms of accessing WiFi Hotspots the survey found that the iPhone has now overtaken the laptop as the mobility device of choice.

Trustive have a number of solutions to help the international mobile internet user overcome these issues including:

• low cost internet access tariffs (from 7p per minute, with no download restrictions)
• a one click connection manager (MyHotspotter) which allows access to all internet networks with just one authentication and billing system

Trustive have also announced that a new App will be available from the Apple iStore for use on the iPhone and iPod Touch. The App will enable users to access the global network network of Wifi Hotspots at the click of a button.

Free Or Open Access Wifi Hotspot Connection Methods

I have often spoken to people that have used Wifi Hotspots and encountered similar problems in terms of accessing wifi networks when out and about. The issue of obtaining passwords and varying billing methods is not just limited to "paid for" Wifi Hotspots as highlighted in the new survey results just issued by Trustive.

There are many different methods of connecting to a wifi network employed even at free Hotspots. Some require a Username and Password. Some just a randomly generated number, some are completely open and require no  authentication at all.

Then there is how you pay for access. Even free Wifi Hotspots are rarely truly free and open access. Most either require either a purchase (e.g Coffee or room), membership or a voucher to be used.

Of course this all comes after you have actually been able to find a Wifi Hotspot :o)
